Where It All Began
Long before freight wagons became our core business, manufacturing was already part of our DNA. Our industrial journey began in 1980 through manufacturing activities across multiple sectors, building practical production experience, operational discipline, and a strong engineering culture. As this expertise continued to grow, it evolved into a dedicated manufacturing company.
Gök Yapı is Established
The establishment of Gök Yapı marked the beginning of a focused manufacturing organization, specializing in steel fabrication, chassis production, and wagon body manufacturing for the domestic market.
The Birth of Gökrail
In 2008, the launch of the Gökrail brand marked the beginning of a new chapter. With a clear focus on railway manufacturing, the company began building technical expertise from the inside out. The early years were shaped by chassis production, wagon body manufacturing, component production, and customized systems for the Turkish railway market. Each project expanded engineering knowledge, manufacturing capability, and production confidence. During this period, key TSI certification milestones were achieved while production capacity continued to operate at full utilization. As demand steadily increased, the existing manufacturing infrastructure reached its operational limits, making the next phase of growth inevitable.
Investing in the Future: Integrated Production Ecosystem
In 2021, a strategic investment decision was made—not simply to increase capacity, but to build the manufacturing platform required for the company's next stage of growth. Operations moved to the new manufacturing facility in Sivas Demirağ Organized Industrial Zone in early 2022, bringing production together under one integrated site. The same year, Y25 bogie TSI certification was successfully completed, enabling the company to integrate its own certified bogies into freight wagon production while expanding its export capabilities. Today, one of Europe's largest single-site freight wagon manufacturing facilities combines engineering, fabrication, assembly, painting, testing, and certification under one roof. Continuous investments in automation, robotics, and production technologies ensure that the facility remains ready to scale alongside future demand.
A New Step in Europe
In 2025, Gökrail took another step in strengthening its presence across Europe with the establishment of BlitzRail in Essen, Germany. Providing wagon repair and maintenance, mobile service and after-sales support, BlitzRail extends Gökrail’s services beyond delivery, providing our customers across Europe with fast and direct technical support. Our journey continues, with new steps ahead.
